Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri, along with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, members of the government and Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara - Tornike Rizhvadze, attended the funeral service people deemed missing after the armed conflict of 1990's that have been relocated from the occupied territory of Abkhazia today and expressed condolences to the family members of the deceased.
With the joint cooperation of the Office of the Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civic Equality and the "Red Cross" International Committee, within the framework of the Georgian-Abkhazian coordination mechanism, this time, it was possible to return 20 identified individuals’ remains to their families, including 14 military and 6 civilians.
5 fighters will be buried at the Dighom brothers' cemetery, and the rest, upon the decision of the families, will be buried in different locations with military honors including family cemeteries.
